Hirsute Man

The "Hirsute Man" represents a particular curiosity among the paintings in the Ambras art collection. It is a portrait of Petrus Gonsalvus, whose life is well documented. Born in 1556 on Tenerife, he came as a child to the court of the French King Henry II, who had him trained and educated.
